However, during a routine check-up in her 5th month of pregnancy, Danni and Brad found out that Shep had something called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). In addition to that, he also had a leaky valve on the right side of his heart. As difficult as this was to hear, we knew that God would provide a path forward. The amazing team of doctors put together a plan for Shep to have a series of surgeries after his birth to repair the defects. However, shortly after his birth they realized the defects were not repairable by surgery, and that Shep would need a full heart transplant. At three months of age, and after a lot of prayer, we got the news that a heart was available for Shep. He immediately had a transplant, and a very long process of healing began. As amazing as it was to get a heart, Shep’s fight was far from over. Over the last year, he has been in and out of the hospital several times. Even the tiniest cold is a big deal to him. He is such a fighter though! And with all he’s been through, he is the happiest baby you’ve ever met! He brings so much joy and happiness to those around him. He truly is a miracle, and we could not be more thankful for all the prayers and support from our family and friends.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Our sweet little Shepherd Wade was born April 26, 2017.
