Over the last couple of days, we\u2019ve seen Zach turn an encouraging corner, and it has lifted our spirits in a big way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His infection is responding well to the antibiotics, and he\u2019s starting to eat more throughout the day. Today, Zach\u2019s mom, Ellen, began a 48-hour stretch managing his diabetes care on her own without assistance from the nursing staff. The medical team is working closely with her to make sure she feels confident and fully prepared to handle everything when Zach goes home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If all continues to go well through the weekend, Zach is expected to be discharged on Monday.
