Have you started promoting your COTA community campaign in preparation for #GivingTuesday on December 3rd? If not, there is still plenty of time to plan your social media strategy for the days leading up to, and including, GivingTuesday 2024.
Begin your GivingTuesday social media outreach by sending a ‘Save the Date’ message to your followers via a social media post and/or email.
Create a local hashtag to combine with the national #GivingTuesday hashtag and the #COTAHope hashtag. Hashtags help you track posts related to your COTA community campaign, serve as a subtle way for people to connect the initiatives together and, most importantly, maximize your reach.
Post every day leading up to GivingTuesday. Share your COTA patient’s story, list a different reason to give each day or share an update about your patient and/or your COTA family. If you are planning a COTA fundraising event for the day of/week of GivingTuesday, be sure to share the flyer on social media. (NOTE: Check out the For Volunteers section on COTA.org for GivingTuesday fundraising ideas.)
On the day of GivingTuesday (December 3rd), enlist the help of your volunteers to share any posts on your community campaign social media pages (whether it be Facebook, Instagram or something else) as well as share the link for the COTA campaign website on all outlets.
The day after GivingTuesday announce your fundraising totals and send thank you messages to anyone who contributed to your GivingTuesday success. Keep the momentum going through the end of the year by emphasizing how people can contribute tax-deductible gifts to your COTA community campaign.
Visit the GivingTuesday tab on COTA.org for more social media strategy tips. As you prepare your 2024 GivingTuesday materials, do not forget to send all materials to CampaignInfo@cota.org before posting to ensure IRS compliance. Again, remember to include #COTAHope and #GivingTuesday in all messaging to maximize your reach!
