Strep Again

Thank you everyone for your patience.  We are so appreciative of all the texts and Facebook messages we’ve received from all of ya’ll concerned about Annabelle.

Annabelle slept great through the night despite us having to turn her over to switch out pedialyte and formula bags every few hours.  She definitely didn’t feel well since she slept from 9pm – 8:30am.  Luckily her ketones were trending downward through the night so we knew we could make it to the pedatrician’s office instead of the emergency room.  We were able to get Annabelle in the pediatrician’s office first thing this morning at 9am and luckily her pediatrician was the one on-call this weekend!  This was a HUGE prayer answered as our pediatrician already knows Annabelle very well and is so thorough.  Annabelle did have some heavy nasal conjestion and a very inflamed throat but no fever.  To be on the safe side we did another strep test and wouldn’t you know there was a faint positive.  I don’t know where she is getting strep since me, Mike, and my mom (who helps care for Annabelle) all tested negative for strep (we were super cautious and all got tested).  Even though it’s bad she has strep throat at least it’s treatable (another prayer answered!).

This time we caught it even earlier than last time so Annabelle is even bouncing back faster. Her ketones have luckily been negative all day and she’s starting to get more of her energy and smiles back.  It’s amazing what antibotics can do!  We’ll stay on a modified formula the next few days but as long as her ketones stay negative we can avoid pumping extra pedialyte in her (yay for interval tube feeds so we can sleep!).  We’ve also got a humidifer going in her room and will increase her saline nasal gel to three times a day.

Thank you for your continued prayers!  Annabelle is so blessed and loved!
