Nadia and I got used to it being just the two of us at home during the week while Jacob and Leena went to school. Nadia was doing a combination of online and homebound instruction so unless her fabulous homebound instructor was here, it was just the two of us. COVID-19 changed so many things…including our weekdays together. On the days we had to get labs, or go to a PT or OT appointment in Mason, we would stop at Whole Foods afterwards to pick up something for lunch, take it home and eat together. Sometimes Fessel would join us before leaving for work. With everyone home doing remote learning and the stay-at-home orders, we don’t get to have days like that anymore…at least for now.
So, when the doctor called to let us know Nadia needed another infusion, Nadia immediately made a positive out of it. She said “Mom, it can be our day, just the two of us!” She also told me right away that she wanted to order LaRosa’s pizza from the cafe because it was “so good last time.” So that’s what we did…we made a day of it and although she was very nervous the night before and this infusion wore her out, she was brave and strong and we had a nice day spending time together, just the two of us.
What better way to end our day by supporting Nadia’s friend Hope who recently received a new heart! We ordered a tumbler to support Hope’s COTA campaign and we picked it up on our way home! It has been wonderful for Nadia to have a friend like Hope who understands many of the things she’s going through. We hope you enjoy the picture of Nadia with her new Hearts for Hope tumbler as well as the other photo’s in today’s gallery!
