Allie is more alert today. While she remains critically ill, she’s stable right now. Her surgeon is really good and kind as well. He personallly helped her stand up and sit in a chair, along with a team of about 6 or 7 other people helping. She sat up for 3 hours, though she was pretty much sleeping the entire time. It took everthing out of her.  They tell me she is the first person on this unit who has gotten out of bed on the type of ECMO she’s on. Her surgeon is a progressive thinking guy which I really like. Bottom line, she’s so deconditioned, she needs to try and build strength before transplant in order to have a more successful post op course.  We’re getting a little better at reading her lips and she’s getting a little more patient with us saying “not sure what you’re saying, try again”. It was really good to see her up. She’s still too weak to write or use a communication letter/picture board. So we now wait for lungs and pray things go well for her. She has a great team caring for her here.  Please keep the prayers coming for her and keep sharing this site for donations to COTA in honor of Allie.  The support you all have shown us is so helpful.  Thank you.
