01/13/2024 Update – Please Continue to Pray for Jaxon’s Strength

They completed an ultrasound of Jaxon’s chest yesterday to ensure there was nothing wrong with his diaphragm. It showed that his diaphragm is not working properly on both sides.

He also still has his left lower lobe collapsed, he’s had pulmonary embolisms, pneumonia, 2 major surgeries, has been on the ventilator for over a month. This has all caused damage to his lungs. They attempted to decrease the ventilator to extubate him, and he did not respond well.

He will have ENT come consult as they will be needing to put in a tracheotomy. This will allow him to be more awake during the day (he hasn’t been able to with the ventilator because he becomes so agitated which causes him to have additional breathing issues, higher blood pressures, and more sedation).

Once he has the trach, he then would be able to start rehabilitation for his body. He will still not be able to speak or eat by mouth at that time. So, we will just continue to work towards what’s best for him not only in the moment but future as well. We will also be requesting he be able to get a communication device to communicate with us.

They do not anticipate this needing to be forever but definitely the near future. This definitely wasn’t what we anticipated but he’s gone through a lot. The rehabilitation will take a while.

Please continue to pray for Jaxon’s strength, God to heal him, and wisdom for the team treating him.

Love, Niki & Adam
