12/2023 – Jaxon’s Surgery Went Well

Jaxon’s surgery went very well. They placed an LVAD (left ventricle). This LVAD is implanted inside his chest. He will have a cord that comes out of his abdomen that can be plugged into the wall or run on batteries. After they placed the LVAD, they determined he also needed a RVAD. This is a cannula coming out of his neck.

However the machine itself is not implanted and rather is plugged in next to his bed. Due to being on the LVAD and the RVAD, Jaxon will not be allowed to leave the hospital until he has a heart transplant. He will have two nurses at all times. We are still waiting on the decision as to if he will be listed and when. Hopefully we will know more soon! We know that this means we will be here in St. Louis a lot longer than I originally wanted to accept.

But we will do whatever it takes for our boy.

Jaxon has shown that he is a fighter through all of this. He will be on the ventilator for a few days and then they will start taking him off of it and then he will be able to wake up! Once he does, then rehabilitation will start soon after. This way they can build him up prior to possible transplant. This will help his body be at the best it can be when the time comes.

Thank you for all the love and prayers. Thank you just doesn’t seem like enough. But truly, we thank you! We definitely have a long, long road ahead of us. The hospital has put us in touch with a non profit organization that will assist us with fundraising in honor of Jaxon. Once we have this information, we will be sure to share it. This will also be where we can update everyone on Jaxon’s progress throughout his heart journey as we will also have a website for fundraising and blogging.

Please continue to pray for him as the next few days will still be difficult for him. Love,

Niki & Adam
