Post transplant has been filled with so many highs and lows. Walking, well strolling in my wheelchair, in to his room Tuesday was emotional. Seeing him, hooked up to so many machines, so many IVs and in a diaper was hard. But he saw me and said “I want to hold your hand” and then pushed my head down on his shoulder. He sure knows how to melt my heart! He has also quickly realized he is not a fan of cafeteria food! Luckily Ryan doesn’t mind being his personal uber eats delivery man and he still approves of his Nana’s cooking. Today, Aidan has gotten up and walked twice. He even made it to the sink, stood there and brushed his teeth. But it is hard work and he often feels frustrated and defeated afterwards. His cental line and 2 of the 3 IVs were also removed today. His spirits really improved and he seemed more comfortable afterwards. He should be graduating from the PICU tonight too! Everything is moving in the right direction. His new kidney is working great and his labs are showing normal levels and function already. It truly is a miracle watching him, even in the tough moments. He is one amazing little man. And our transplant teams have proven amazing as well.
