Our Story

Hey everyone! This cutie is Kenzlyn, and she needs a kidney!

Kenzlyn is just over a year old and has something called Congenital Nephrotic Syndrome of the Finnish Type. A basic explanation is that her kidneys don’t function properly and spill out more than just toxins. They also spill out proteins her body needs in order to help her blood not clot as easily, as well as help her fight off infections.

We currently travel over an hour each way to Charlotte, NC, three times a week for infusions (and each infusion lasts approximately 5 hours total).

There’s no cure for her disease and the infusions will only buy us so much time until her kidneys eventually fail.

The only solution is a kidney transplant. She will be listed for a donor kidney soon and then we wait for a match!

A little about her, she has an older sister, Kyllian, who absolutely adores her, as well as her fur-brother, Herby. Kenzlyn is such a happy baby. You’d never know she was sick. Her current favorite things to do are roll around the house, chase her sister in her walker, and play in her swing outside or watch shows with her Daddy.

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
