Our Story

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-hearted Strangers,

I’m reaching out to you with a plea from the depths of my heart. My daughter, Alina, is facing a daunting battle against heart failure. The diagnosis is called restrictive cardiomyopathy. Every beat of her heart is a testament to her resilience, but we urgently need your help to continue this journey.

Alina recently had a cardiac arrest while being hospitalized, which in result landed her to have her heart and lungs to be operated by a machine called ECMO. Ultimately ended up having to have open-heart surgery to input 2 devices called a BIVAD. That’s 2 major surgeries within 5 days. She’s so strong and sassy; every parent’s worst nightmare is to have to watch their child hooked up to a machine that’s keeping her heart and lungs going, but ultimately we give all glory to GOD. He knows everything that will happen before we even know it’s there. I know he wouldn’t send on this journey if he thought she wasn’t strong enough.

Alina is so full of life and till this day; she is counting to fight and also is someone who has touched the lives of so many with their warmth, humor, generosity, and infectious spirit.

In times like these, no one should have to choose between their health and their livelihood. Yet, the harsh reality is that many families, like ours, are forced to confront this painful dilemma head-on.

Every donation, no matter the size, to COTA for Alina’s Heart brings us closer to the goal of giving Alina the quality of life she deserves which is to get to the point of doing a Heart Transplant. Your support of COTA in honor of Alina can make a world of difference. Together, we can make a difference and transform a story of struggle into one of triumph.

Please consider donating to COTA for Alina’s Heart and sharing this campaign with your family and friends. Your support is truly a lifeline.

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
