My name is Allie Gregory. In 2010, 11-year-old me received one of the most amazing gifts a person could receive – one that I never thought I would ever want, let alone *need*! This kidney, thanks to my oh-so-generous friend, has given me ten years that I may not have had otherwise.
So, you are probably asking, “Why do you need a fundraiser; haven’t you already had a kidney transplant?” Well, Kidneys are kinda like BMWs: they are expensive, and they don’t last forever. If a transplanted kidney lasts more than ten years, the recipient is way ahead of the game. I will eventually need another used BMW… er… kidney.
So, my family partnered with the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) for assistance with transplant-related expenses.
I would love to take y’all with me on my never-dull journey through life. Watch for updates. Please consider becoming a part of my kidney support group!
I absolutely LOVE questions. I will do my best to answer each and every one!
The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA also works with individuals of any age with a single-gene disorder such as Polycystic Kidney Disease, Cystic Fibrosis or Sickle Cell Disease. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy families. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free of charge and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
