I wanted to take a moment to share with you an update on Amari’s journey. This week marked an important milestone as he had his regular 2.5-year checkup with his pediatrician. Despite the challenges he faces, I’m delighted to report that all went well. Amidst the whirlwind of medical appointments and routines, Amari found moments of joy and laughter that echoed through his week.
Saturday was a day of pure happiness for Amari as he soaked up the sunshine and laughter in the pool alongside his mom, sister, and friends. Their outing provided a refreshing escape from the unpredictable Ohio weather, allowing Amari to revel in one of his favorite activities—playing in the water. The sound of his laughter echoed, a testament to the joy that radiated from within despite the challenges he faces.
Monday marked another visit to the nephrology clinic for Amari’s monthly checkup. Discussions with his doctor centered around the fluctuating nature of his blood pressures. Despite the ups and downs, it was decided to maintain the current treatment regimen, as they remained within manageable levels. Additionally, concerns about skin discoloration and flakiness around his catheter site were addressed during this visit, prompting adjustments to his cleaning solution in hopes of alleviating the issue.
On Tuesday, it was time for Amari’s routine 2.5-year checkup with his pediatrician. Conversations ranged from milestones like potty training to the ongoing preparations for a potential transplant, including arrangements for a second opinion. Therapy referrals for both occupational and physical therapy were also initiated, underscoring the holistic approach to Amari’s well-being. His pediatrician, who brings a wealth of experience from her background in nephrology, expressed admiration for Amari’s progress and overall health, marveling at his resilience in the face of adversity.
As the week drew to a close, the routine settled back in, with no further scheduled appointments. Yet, amidst the ebb and flow of medical visits and daily life, one thing remains constant—the unwavering determination and strength of Amari and his support system.
