We keep waiting for the magical day (from Alena)

As Ariana’s journey towards a kidney transplant continues, we wanted to let everyone know how she is doing. Back in March, Ariana had to start dialysis treatment three times a week, and she is doing well. She still goes to school, and we try to make the most out of our time at the hospital by reading, doing art projects, playing Uno, having fun with the visiting clowns, and one-on-one tutoring to make up for the missed classes at school. It gets boring and tiring at times and makes her miss some fun activities, but she is still her joyful self and is eagerly awaiting the gift of a new kidney.

It’s been two months since we reached out to the community for help. From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank everybody for supporting Ariana during this stage of her life. We feel humbled to see the community’s outpour of empathy and involvement. With your efforts, we have raised approximately $6,500, with $800 alone coming from the recent Bertucci’s restaurant night fundraiser (they said it was the biggest fundraising check they had ever cut!) Ariana has heard loud and clear from our Community that she is not alone in her journey. The well-wishes and prayers sent her way are overwhelming. Ariana’s face lights up whenever somebody stops to tell her what a strong little girl she is and how everything will turn out just fine. This helps her stay positive and focused on being a kid. This optimism is something she will take with her forever.

We will continue updating everyone as her story develops. We wake up every day hoping that this is the day when we get a call from the hospital letting us now that there is a kidney for her. Thank you once more for your love and support. If you see us out and about please say hi.
