Yesterday afternoon, Aurelia’s heart went back into atrial fibrillation, where her heart rates went high and irregular. Doctors increased her medication to help lower her heart rate and fix her rhythm but unfortunately that didn’t help. So today
she will be sedated again for another Cardioversion (jump start her heart to get the rhythm back in sync) and a surgical procedure where they will take out her current chest drain tube and replace or reinserted it in a new area another drain tube because doctors believe it is clogged with blood.
Aurelia is retaining fluids and losing blood. The drain tubes are supposed to drain the blood but it is not draining like it should.
Since her body is retaining fluids and blood which is building in her lungs and causing her heart to react to the extra fluids and pressure. Plus her heart is still recovering from the open heart surgery a week ago and the stress caused by the VADs being place and attached to her heart. Basically her heart is stressed out and we are seeing the results of it.
Aurelia is struggling since she can’t drink or eat anything until after the surgery is over and the sedation medication wears off. We were told this procedure won’t happen until the late afternoon.
