We finally were able to see Aurelia last night around 6:15pm. Aurelia did well last night, she was sedated the whole night. She did stirred and woke up a couple of times, but went back to resting soon after.
This morning, around 11am, Aurelia’s breathing tube was taken out. She is in pain and on Tylenol and she started Morphine this morning to help with pain management. Aurelia’s voice is raspy and she is quite quiet in her speech after the breathing tube was taken out. Aurelia is doing remarkable!!! She is able to communicate with the doctors and nurses her pain levels and discomfort in a respectful way. Her body is healing nicely.
I did take photos but Aurelia requested that no photos be shared yet! Aurelia told us she will let us know when she is ready to share her BiVAD photos and what her body looks like.
Last night was a tough night for me…I stayed bedside and I was worried about her comfort levels but she did amazing.
Looking at Aurelia’s body and the BiVAD is quite challenging and shocking but she is truly amazing!!! Aurelia looks like a FIGHTER!!!! She looks like a Survivor!!!! She looks like a Champion!!!
Aurelia needed Kaimi and I by her side in the beginning and now she is okay with just one of us by her bedside holding her hand. Her CVICU room is arranged for only one chair to fit comfortably by her bedside and the other side, one of us needs to stand bc the nurses are so busy watching over her. So we are taking turns holding her hand and sitting on the chair as she rests. So far NO complications!!! Thank you God!!! Thank you everyone for your prayers and support!!!
Amen!
Thank you for keeping us updated. I think about all of you all the time. We continue to pray for Aurelia. We love you all. 🙏🏼🥺
