We started the new year off great, and Breyman had a wonderful 1st Birthday a couple weeks ago. Then last Wednesday Brey didn’t want to eat, drink or play. All of his favorite things. He seemed lethargic. We made a trip to Riley where they assessed him and decided we need to be admitted. Thursday morning Brey received his 1st blood transfusion as his hemoglobin was low. This is due to his liver not being able to function properly. They added a second IV to perform the transfusion so he could have an IV for antibiotics at the same time as he has some type of infection going on. The good news is Brey couldn’t wait to eat Thursday afternoon! Then Friday evening we were told his hemoglobin was low again. Brey received his 2nd blood transfusion in the middle of the night Friday and his 3rd by Sunday afternoon.
It seems that Brey’s liver is failing at a much faster pace than we expected. What we know is Brey has a PELD score of 33 now and has been bumped up on the transplant list. Brey’s team of doctors and surgeons are advocating for our boy to get a liver sooner than later. This is hard to type, but it looks as though Brey may not be able to go home before he receives a new liver. We are living at Riley for the time being. Todays newest concern is the color of his stool, and if he has some bleeding going on in his esophagus. Next up is and endoscopy to see what is going on.
It’s hard to put into words the emotions and feelings we have right now. We are scared, we are tired, we are nervous, we feel helpless, and we ask for all the prayers as we continue to navigate through this each day. Specific prayer requests are for Breyman’s team of doctors and their care, that they find no bleeding in his esophagus, that his hemoglobin doesn’t drop anymore and the most important is they find a liver for our boy. Thank you in advance for lifting our family up in prayer!

Sending out hugs and prayers love you guys ❤️
