Our Story

Hi! Thanks for taking a moment to check out our website. To start, I would like to tell you a little bit about us. My name is Sara, and my husband is Aaron. We were blessed with our first son in March of 2016. As parents begin to pray for their children, I believe we traditionally follow a generalized guideline. First, we prayed that he would one day come to know the Lord. Then we prayed that he would be healthy and live a long prosperous life. We had no other reason to believe that this scenario would not be our reality.

On March 12, 2016, our beautiful baby boy decided to surprise us and arrived a few days early. Little did we know, he was born with failing kidneys. No one asks for this. This was not in our checklist of prayers. However, it is the hand that we were dealt. Since his birth, the Lord has moved mountain after mountain for us. He has brought us through some very dark times. Because of His grace and mercy we are able to have the joy of being Cannon’s mom and dad. Cannon is the life of the party, the bees knees, the cool kid on the block, and the biggest blessing that we could ask for. However, there are still mountains to be moved ahead.

The most visible mountain for us is a kidney transplant. Cannon is currently on peritoneal dialysis each night. We are working very hard to keep him healthy, and help him grow to the weight and height requirement for a transplant. (22lbs and 31in) This is a huge task within itself. However, aside from the physical requirements, there are also financial preperations that need to be made. Not only for our family, but for whomever is generous enough to give Cannon the gift of life through kidney donation.

The cost of a transplant often exceeds $500,000. That being said, we ask that you take a moment to consider how you may be able to make a difference in a child like Cannon’s life. By contributing in honor of Cannon, you make the financial portion of journey’s like Cannon’s more bearable. The money raised in Cannon’s honor will forever be in his name through the Children’s Organ Transplant Association.

Thank you for walking this journey along side us. We are blessed to have friends and family like you.

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
