Healing is Not Linear

I’ve quoted that to myself several times today. Today was hard. It got a lot better then got hard again. This morning she was pitiful. The worst and most defeated yet. Yesterday I thought was bad but this morning tops it all. The side effects from her meds are awful. Headaches and flushing being the worst. But they are tapering down the worst of them now. She’s off all IVs except the blood transfusion she got today- 2 units of blood.  Her hemoglobin was bordering low and they had to give her very little blood during the surgery so they thought this would give her a boost. They’ve unplugged her from the pacemaker but will take out the wires later. Will take out the chest tube later. I am mostly confident in saying the worst is over but I’m afraid at the same time.

Good things: we may get to go back up to our home away from home tomorrow they said at rounds this morning- the 8th floor! And Ceara is moving more and hurting less. She did two laps today!!

Healing is not linear. But God’s goodness just grows and grows. Progress is still happening and we are still choosing thankfulness- our motto from the beginning of this storm.
