Transplant update

Please read the following message from Chris regarding his transplant status

“Hey Everyone,

Quick transplant related update. So something I didn’t really initially share with too many people is that considering everything going on with COVID, I made the tough decision to go inactive on the list back the beginning of April. My hopes were to go inactive for a bit, let things calm down, give the hospital time to relax it’s visitation rules, then go active again. Well, with the resurgence of cases both in my area as well as around the country, it’s not looking like this scenario will play out anytime soon. Soooo, today, I had to make the even more difficult decision of going back to active despite the current state of COVID. I’m not one for playing the pity card, but please, the next time you’re upset that your vacation plans were cancelled or that you may have to wear a mask at the grocery store, please consider that I now have to go through a double lung transplant without my family. You’re allowed one visitor during daytime hours only so Kate can be there a bit, but everyone else who has been by my side for my entire life will be stuck on the outside. I’m honestly not sure how I’ll be able to do this but I don’t really have an option at this point. This is just my story and my experience but these are the kinds of impacts that this PREVENTABLE resurgence is having. So please, consider the impact that your actions could be having.

On a happier note, we’ve UNBELIEVABLY raised over $28,000 for COTA in my honor so that they can help me with my transplant expenses. I seriously can’t believe that we made it over half way to our very lofty goal. If you’re still interested in donating, you can do so via the link below. Thank you so much for even considering.

For a number of different reasons, I expect my wait this time to be pretty short. So hopefully my next update is to let you all know that I have some new lungs and can finally start my life again.

Thank you again. “
