Relocating

We have an unexpected change of plans which has us headed to California next week, this time to stay locally until Cohen receives an offer. The rationale for this is that Cohen’s oxygen levels continue to lower and pose a risk for him to fly when we do get a call. His team connected earlier this week and determined this was necessary.

So, we will drive to Stanford on Thursday. Jess and Cohen will stay there and I will fly back to be with the girls until we have an offer.

We are bummed we have to split our family but again, we trust his doctors and have faith in God’s plan and timing. We will be okay, and we will make it out the other side of this stronger and home with a healthy boy.

The surgery day gets closer with both fear and hope. We choose to remain grounded in the positives, focusing on the life we regain post transplant with restored oxygen levels. Sports, bike riding, playing tag at recess, and all the other things 7yr old boys should (and shouldn’t) be doing. He dreams for those days back and so do we.

Thank you all for the continued support. We feel every one of your prayers and appreciate all the encouraging messages.

  1. Praying. Things are moving and Cohen will now be with transplant experts…a good thing. Keep the faith and know we love your family. Cohen we look forward to seeing you with your new liver!!💜

  2. “May the God of great hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope!”
    Romans 15:13

Praying for your hearts to be strengthened by hope and peace. We LOVE your family and know God will bring you through this time of separation stronger and full of thankfulness for all He will do!!

  3. I’m excited for Cohen to join me on the other side of a transplant – full of new energy, excitement, and the knowledge that he can literally do ANYTHING with the love and support of his family, friends and the wonders of science. I thank God for my transplant team and their brilliance and I know the Stanford team is going to support you all through this, just as Duke did for us. You’ve got this McCarty/Walker fam!
