CA updates

We made it to California Thursday night!

It was about a 10 hour drive to the Bay Area, made much better by having Colby and Avery with us, along with my in-laws driving separately making sure we got there safely.

Cohen had an appointment with his Stanford hepatologist and dietician the very next day and we continue to be reassured that they feel he is in a good spot on the list for an offer. He received three extra points last week based on his quality of life being affected and limited from his lowering oxygen levels and energy levels. We continue to wait… and surrender the details. He has a few appointments this Monday with cardiology and will have labs done as well.

It was a very sad goodbye between us all Friday night. Being apart is a hurdle we knew would be hard but man – we are a homebody family that likes nothing better than everyone under one roof. Miss Noah is confused by it all already, of course! Praying details work out to have us all together down here for Thanksgiving week. Knowing that Cohen has to be here 3 months post transplant keeps us praying hard that his offer comes soon so we can start this timeline.

Cohen and I are bouncing around right now between hotels and possibly an air bnb while we wait for a spot to hopefully open up soon at Stanford’s Ronald McDonald House. They operate off a wait list and you don’t find out if they have space until the day you need it 🙃

We are beyond grateful for the donations to COTA for Co as we start using COTA funds to help with our travel, lodging, and food down here. Words can’t say thank you enough.

Our prayers haven’t changed too much. Please join us in praying for

  • The right liver for Cohen soon
  • Comfort and peace for us all while apart and thinking about the road ahead
  • Courage for Cohen and less resistance to wearing his oxygen around
  • Cohen’s breathing will be sustained and his HPS won’t worsen prior to surgery

Thank you for your prayers and ongoing support!!
