Cohen was taken back for transplant around 4:45pm PST. He will be in surgery for the next 8-10 hours. We will be updated on his progress throughout the night and will be able to reunite in recovery in the ICU. Probably in the middle of the night tonight. He will be on a ventilator for 1-2 days post surgery to help with his body’s adjustment and healing for his new liver.
Every nurse and doctor tells us he’s the toughest kid they’ve had. He’s far tougher than me. We hate that he has to go through this.
Cohen’s prayer last night when admitted and knowing what was ahead was: “Dear Lord. Thank you for answering our prayers. We pray you answer them again. We love you.”
We ask and appreciate continued prayers over his body, his mind, his surgeons. We plead for no complications and everything remains stable- from blood pressure, to kidneys, to his lungs and heart. We pray that the God, who created Cohen and whose plans for him are filled with goodness, would fill the operating room with his powerful, undefeated spirit. We pray for supernatural healing for Cohen’s body and this liver that he has been gifted brings him life.
Thank you all for partnering with us in prayer and petition. We are so grateful! We couldn’t do it without the family, friends, and prayers behind us.
We also pray for the donor family and their comfort. This decision to donate is something we will be forever grateful for.
