Hello from California! We wanted to do a quick update on Cohen’s progress since our last post when he was admitted early January for a biopsy and what they determined was early rejection. His labs started to improve again with high dose steroids, but took a spike again the next week which meant he had to do a second biopsy and ultrasound. (Big bummer for us all).
Thankfully the ultrasound was still looking good. The biopsy did not give us clear cut answers, but told the Dr’s at least that he was not experiencing rejection anymore which is another good thing to hear. Cohen was discharged with a lot of wait and see, and possible medication injury on his liver from the many meds he has been on since transplant. They made a few med adjustments in hopes that things would improve and slowly but surely they have been. Over the last few weeks his labs have steadily been coming down but are not yet back to the normal range. He has been weaning down on steroids and we hope with a few more weeks we will see the labs normalize completely.
We are down to once a week clinic appointments and hopefully soon will go down to once a week labs. Tomorrow he sees nephrology who will follow him for his blood pressure and kidneys.
He is feeling really good, getting back to a typical active boy, and gaining strength with our many playground trips!
We could never say thank you enough or show all the gratitude we feel for the support we have received both in prayer and donations to COTA on Cohen’s behalf. This more than anything has allowed us to be together as a family without financial burden as we wait out our 3 month (ish) relocation post-transplant, and will also help us in future trips back to his transplant center.
We are so grateful, and cannot wait for that day they say we can go HOME! This day is on our minds more and more… Cohen cannot wait to see his room and his friends/family that he hasn’t seen since October.
Thank you for standing beside us on this journey! This will be a lifelong one for Cohen as all transplant recipients and family know. But I know he will be able to read back through these posts, or reflect on the ways God has provided and been faithful to us, and use it for God’s glory.

Praise GOD for our
Answered prayers for Cohen.
Thankful also for his parents and all the prayers being

We have a wonderful, caring

Sorry, it posted twice😳
Your journey Cohen reminds me of David. The early years of his life he was unable to assume his throne and go home. But when the time was right, David was able to go home. When God’s timing is right you, God’s warrior will return home. Love you!
So happy to hear this update! Still praying for you all.
Oh Cohen!!! You’re doing amazing, buddy!!! We are so thankful for all God has been doing through you. 2C is ready for you when you get the green light, kiddo 🥰
Praising God with you for good tests and lab results! We are in continued prayer with you and everyone who loves Cohen! ❤️❤️❤️
This is such great news! Glad you’re able to enjoy California while Cohen is healing.
