1 week post-surgery…..

1 week ago Cohen was heading into surgery. What a week it has been for Cohen and the McCarty clan. It has been filled with lots of ups and downs and continues to be a roller coaster of victories and small setbacks as Christmas came and went. Jessica’s parents flew with Avery and Noah to California on Christmas Eve. Cohen was able to open up some gifts and have a short visit from Avery but obviously was not a very enjoyable Christmas for him. We trust that next year he will be happy, healthy and be able to run around excitedly again!

Victories/Praises:

-successful extubation, lessening dependence on oxygen and completely off of nitrous oxide

-being able to eat and get up out of bed to do PT

-Doc’s still very happy with how liver looks, lots of liver numbers are normalizing

Prayer requests:

-off and on fevers would go away (potentially from a small bile leak but they are not 100% sure)

-abdominal pain would be under control (specifically after eating)

-bilirubin levels would normalize

-any possible bile leak would heal quickly on its own

-Cohen will be hungry and able to eat plenty of calories without pain, preventing any need for a feeding tube

-Rest, energy, and health for Colby and Jess
