Cole Cooper’s journey began at 2 months old when we found out he had a rare liver disease called biliary atresia. Biliary atresia is a condition in infants in which the bile ducts outside and inside the liver are scarred and blocked. Bile can’t flow into the intestine, so bile builds up in the liver and damages it. The damage leads to scarring, loss of liver tissue and function, and cirrhosis. Cole had a surgery called the kasai to try to regain bile flow by connecting part of his intestine to his liver. That surgery unfortunately didn’t work. We are now on the waiting list for a new liver. We understand that Cole will be having to deal with this the rest of his life with checkups, medications and immunosuppressant drugs. We have partnered with the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) for assistance with transplant-related expenses such as these. Please consider donating to COTA in honor of Cole. We thank you for all your love and support as we watch Cole grow into a strong handsome boy!
The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
This is one of the best donations you could ever make.
