21 January UPDATE

*Everything in BOLD is the information given to me by Tara, and everything in the normal font is an explanation as well as I can give it!

Collin will have his 1st cardiac catheterization tomorrow around 11am.

Cardiac catheterization : a minimally invasive procedure where doctors insert a thin tube (catheter) through a blood vessel in the wrist or groin to reach the heart, diagnosing and treating issues like blocked arteries (using angioplasty/stents), faulty valves, or irregular heartbeats, allowing for imaging with contrast dye and various repairs without major surgery.

Collin has cardiac catheterization in order to track progress. It’s a part of what goes into checking up on his heart!

Dr Shaw wants to get better imaging of his left pulmonary artery/superior vena cava (SVC). The thoracic duct decompression was taken down when he was transplanted and he said he kinda “tied” it off but due to the large collaterals, he had to cut one in half. *Squiggly lines in the drawn picture* Also, If the stent and the SVC still aren’t allowing adequate blood flow a stent will be placed in his SVC and the stent in the pulmonary artery will be ballooned more.

All of Collin’s levels are holding steady! Hopefully a few of his drains will be removed by the end of the week so that is he able to get up and moving around more comfortably.

Nutrition wise, still restricted to 10g of fat and minimal sugar intake by mouth. He hasn’t had insulin in 24 hours!

As always Thanks for thinking of our boy. We are so proud of him and forever grateful to his donor.

GIVE if you can to COTA in honor of Collin’s Heart Journey.
And please subscribe to his COTA page so that you can receive notifications every time something is posted!
