10.13.24 – Clinic Visit & Walking Challenges

We started the week off with our clinic visit which was long but went well.

Her liver levels looked good and she didn’t need to do any med adjustments at this one. We had some hard conversations with her liver Doctor about what to expect in the future with a liver transplant. This was really the first time Cyla had met her team while conscious. She had a lot of questions and it was an emotional visit.

Cyla has been working really hard in therapy and keeps pushing herself. Walking is still a challenge. She is doing well but struggles with placement of her footing, heal to toe, she tends to lead with her toes and then flings her foot which causes issues with gripping as she gets tired. She had a pretty hard fall on Thursday that scared me. Her PT was obviously with her and caught her but she scared herself and me pretty bad.

Her voice is getting stronger as she works with speech on stretching the vocal cords again. Fine motor skills are still somewhat challenging as her hands tend to tremor when she works with them a lot.

Her spirits seem high and I am overall just so proud of her. As always we so appreciate the continued prayers for recovery and kindness for our family.
