It’s hard to believe it’s been one year since our sweet girl received her life saving liver transplant!
This past year has been one of many emotions, trials, scares, ups and downs and learning curves. We have had to learn new rules for eating, germ control, physical restrictions, and just overall lifestyle changes.
Cyla has been so strong through the whole process! Fighting to stay alive in the hospital and pushing herself to regain her mobility and strength. She has since gotten her drivers license, started her junior year as a CCP student, continues to work on her physical health, as well as mental.
She has shown me that she is way stronger than I ever thought. She has pushed through every obstacle and found ways to be happy and healthy as we navigate her new normal. Her new liver is working hard for her and her recent labs have been holding steady. We have been able to ease up on some of the medication dosages which is nice for her. Although she will never have a day where she won’t need these medications, she welcomes taking less pills per day with open arms.
She continues to have her lab draws biweekly currently and then we hopefully can shift to once a month. She has her king clinic appointment downtown once every 3 months and will always have that for the rest of her life.
For Cyla, I know she looks forward to this school year and being able to have the ability to have the independence to drive herself to school and regain some normalcy in her life. We look forward to celebrating her one year mark and continue to pray for many more milestones to come. Thank you all for everything you have done this past year for our girl and for continuing to check on us and her through this entire transplant process. We will always need the thoughts and prayers of our friends, family and community to walk through this new normal with her but we are so thankful we have her here and getting stronger every day.
