Our Story

Devin is a caring, energetic and outspoken 3-year-old little boy born July 9th, 2020. Devin was born prematurely at 32 weeks due to an ultrasound showing that Devin had a heart defect. As a result, he had to spend the first few months of his life in the neonatal intensive care unit. Devin was eventually transferred to the University of Michigan for his first heart surgery.

After the first surgery we found out that he would need more surgeries. After undergoing 3 open-heart surgeries we found out that Devin was in heart failure and would need a heart transplant. Devin’s heart doctor then sent his medical records over to Cleveland Clinic for a consultation. At that time Cleveland Clinic doctors determined that Devin should be placed on the transplant list.

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA is the nation’s only fundraising organization solely dedicated to raising life-saving dollars in honor of transplant-needy children and young adults. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of our patients helps meet transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are free to our families, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
