Devon Update -Sept 19, 2021

It was recently discovered Devon is beginning to show early signs of malnutrition.  These include thinning hair, low energy levels, etc.  Because of these symptoms, the medical team, through frequent blood draws, is constantly monitoring and adjusting the vitamin, mineral, and protein levels in the daily PICC line feeding process.

Devon’s nutrition levels also have been calorically adjusted so she can lose another 15 pounds before she is added to the transplant list.  Past cases for this type of transplant tend to move quickly once the patient is put on the list.  Devon’s doctors want her to be in the best physical condition possible for surgery. Devon’s lost 4 pounds last week.   Great news!!!!

Another new situation is that the PICC line in Devon’s arm is beginning to close up.  This is a perfectly normal occurrence, but it means the PICC location may soon need to be moved to a new location in her body.

Because of these situations, Georgetown University Medical Center is needing to see Devon in person again to totally analyze her current condition.  Devon and her mom, Angela, will go to Georgetown early in October for at least one week.  Your generous contributions to COTAforDevonsTransplant.com are making it possible for COTA to already begin covering these travel and related living expenses.  Thank you so much for your support.

Stay tuned for future updates as we get them.
