ER in ATL then back to Georgetown

Hello Devon supporters. In case you haven’t heard Devon is back at Georgetown University Medical Center. She started feeling severe body aches and nausea and her mom, Angela, took her to ER back on Wednesday, June 26th. It was a long day and it was determined that Devon needed to go back to her transplant team back in D.C. And, it turn out to be a very long night as travel issues caused a rescheduled flight, then a very long wait as thunderstorms in Baltimore kept the plane from taking off from Atlanta.
They finally arrived at the medical center at 3:44AM!! They drew blood for a blood culture, did a CT Scan and gave her meds for her pain. But, it was a VERY long night as you can imagine.
The results of the blood culture, CT Scan, colonoscopy and biopsies showed a severe level of organ rejection of her intestines and part of her colon. Bottomline, they established the appropriate level of immunosuppressive meds and have also determined Devon will need to remain in the hospital for 10-14 days. But, the transplant team is saying the meds are working. Your prayers, positive thoughts and support are truly appreciated by our family.
And, COTA continues to support Devon’s transplant related expenses that medical insurance does not cover. This is the perfect time to donate to COTA in honor of Devon. Small amounts do add up and make a huge difference.
Thanks again everyone!
