Easton is currently undergoing peritoneal dialysis at home. We’re thankful for the improvement to kidney function he is expericing as we keep praying to find a living donor
Did you know there are two types of dialysis?
Peritoneal Dialysis (Easton’s kind)
– Natural Filter: The peritoneal membrane inside the abdomen acts as a natural filter. Dialysis solution is introduced through a catheter, drawing out waste and extra fluids.
– Flexibility: Offering more independence, peritoneal dialysis can be done at home, giving individuals greater control over their schedule.
Hemodialysis:
– Filtering focus: Blood is pumped through a dialyzer, where it’s cleansed of toxins and excess fluids.
– Timing is everything:: Typically done 3 times a week, hemodialysis sessions last a few hours, leaving room for hobbies and relaxation between treatments.
Lifesaving Harmony: Both types of dialysis work hard to keep the body, even when kidneys are not functioning.
