Eliana’s journey with Make a Wish Georgia unfolded into a heartwarming and emotional experience that culminated in her “wish come true” on 11/2/23. Despite not being an avid cook, Eliana’s unique wish was to become a chef for a day. Intrigued and slightly apprehensive, I enrolled her in cooking summer camps,  which ignited her love for cooking. The Make a Wish team orchestrated a series of events that not only fulfilled Eliana’s wish but also celebrated her spirit in a grand way.

Events Leading Up to the Big Day

The journey spanned several weeks through multiple events including a meet-and-greet at Assurant,  a dine-around with the chefs from sponsor Focus Brands, tastings and menu selections at the Focus Brands kitchen in which Eliana was delighted to participate. Virtual calls with the Make a Wish team added a personal touch to the planning process. Each event placed Eliana at the center, showering her with attention and empowering her with decision-making authority, creating a magical buildup to her special day.

The Grand Finale

Eliana’s wish extended beyond being a chef for a day; she curated her own pop-up restaurant—Eliana’s Mexican Grill. From selecting the menu to choosing the décor and silverware, every detail reflected her unique taste and style. On the big day, a limo ride added an extra touch of glamour, marking both Eliana and Parker’s first experience in a chauffeured vehicle. Working side by side with chefs, taste-testing, and even indulging in playful breaks, Eliana’s energy and excitement were contagious. As the event unfolded, she seamlessly transitioned into server mode, ensuring every guest enjoyed a memorable dining experience. The night concluded with Eliana declaring it the “best day ever.”

A Proud Mama Moment

As the night wrapped up, the sight of faces filled with love and support for Eliana became a proud mama moment. Friends and family went above and beyond, traveling from distant places to be part of this extraordinary day. Their presence transformed Eliana’s wish into a shared celebration, creating lasting memories.

In a world where wishes could range from extravagant shopping sprees to exotic trips, Eliana chose to cook and serve for her friends, family, doctors, nurses, and teachers—a selfless act that touched the hearts of everyone present.

Medical Update

Eliana’s medical journey continues with stability on dialysis. The hope for new treatment options is on the horizon, aligning with our plans for another kidney transplant in the future. Despite a recent ankle fracture, Eliana’s resilient spirit remains unwavering, and we anticipate a full recovery within 4-8 weeks.
