Elie said it.. not me.
She’s feeling cute, and so far.. so good on the green light for her paired exchange transplant in two days! Tuesday, July 8th. I would lie if I said that Justin and I aren’t painfully aware how soon it is approaching. It should feel like the Christmas Eve butterflies.. our baby girl gets her new liver! Only this feels like a familiar dread.. similar to a beautiful Sunday morning, velveeta cheese nachos on a football platter, but you know there will be a Kansas City Chiefs loss that afternoon. The exhilarated dread, and ultimately the unknown of outcomes. The roller coaster of emotions can only be compared to that feeling. (Okay, not really.. but laughter/humor instead of crying/sad is our lifestyle).
Last Wednesday Elie spiked a few fevers. Her jaundice has never looked so bad. She was extremely uncomfortable. Eliana was admitted for one night in the hospital where they did a lot of labs, imaging, and testing. Elie is showing symptoms of cholangitis. They are now having her take an antibiotic as a precautionary. We made it back home in time for her first 4th of July with her big brother, and Lola! I can not express how happy and confident we feel in her Liver team. Even Elie knows she’s in good hands.. we have never seen her reach for ANYONE with TWO arms.. (not even me) i’m not even mad she reached and wanted the Physician treating her from the liver team.
Elie will be admitted tomorrow, Monday July 7th for monitoring and blood work, and then be taken from Justin and I early on July 8th for her transplant.. which will take 8-10 hours. Justin will have his living donor surgery July 9th. We are thankful for all your continued prayers and good vibes. And just like Chiefs Kingdom, I know she’ll come out with the W. Join us in gifting $7.80, in two days 7/8, to COTA in honor of Eliana to help spread hope & joy for her cause. #EmpowerEliana #ElieStrong #PairedExchange #EmbracingEliana
