OMG!

48 Days ago our world was rocked with Ella’s diagnosis of Familial Dilated Cardiomyopathy.
One month ago, on 9/19, Ella was listed for a Heart Transplant.

A few minutes after 5:00 last night, we got the call. Ella had an offer for a donor heart!!

This morning at 5:15am, Ella was taken into surgery to prepare for her transplant.  Getting the heart to Seattle was a little trickier than expected!  They had to fly the surgical team to another state to for the removal of the heart from the donor.  On landing, the tire of the plan blew!  The plane spun around and the pilot finally regianed control.  While the surgeons were working at the hospital, the team was trying to find a new plane!  After quite a delay, the heart finally arrived in Seattle and the team is working on her now!  Ella will be in surgery for another 4-6 hours while they complete the transplant process and confirm independent heart functions.

Last night, all I could think about was the donor family. Who they are, where they live, and what they will most remember about their loved one.
May God wrap her arms around this family as they mourn their loss. I hope they will find comfort in knowing that the energy and light of their loved one will live on in Ella and in all of the other families who are blessed by their gift.
