Yesterday, we ended up in Madison for an emergency doctor’s appointment. Emmy was not happy! Emmy had an infection on her lip so the nurse practitioner wanted some tests completed to make sure this wasn’t the start of a more severe infection. Emmy had a blood work up and a lip swab. Emmy’s blood count revealed no abnormalities in her blood count. The lip swab will not come back for a couple of days. Emmy was not exhibiting any other symptoms so the team is waiting to see if an antibiotic will be needed in the future. Today, her lip is looking better. However, with all the worry, we did get good news! Emmy does not have to take voriconazole and cyclosporine any more! Emmy’s pill regime was reduced by 14 pills and no more cyclosporine liquid! This was great news! We are down to 2 pills daily and 3 pills daily are added on the weekends. For the last six months, Emmy has been woken up every morning at 7:00 and 8:00. Emmy was able to sleep all the way until 8:30 this morning! Also, good news for Emmy, she finally reached 5 feet in height:) She gets measured all the time at her doctor’s appointments and she just wanted to reach 5 feet and she did! It’s the small things in life for Emmy! #Fighter
