Round 4: Day post-op day 131

We headed to the doctor on Wednesday this week.  Emerson was going bi-weekly to the doctor, but this week we learned she gets to go monthly now!  Emerson had her normal blood draw to look at all of her blood counts.  Dr. Hoffman reported that Emerson’s blood counts were looking good.  Emerson has a rash on her face which concerned us, but her doctor felt it was a reaction to one of her medications and the sun.  Emerson has to go see a specialized dermatologist that works with the transplant team.  Emerson continues to get ingrown toenails so we will also be visiting a podiatrist after she is off her anit-viral medications.  That brings me to her medications.  She is reducing her cyclosporine every week by .1ml . The rest of her medications will remain the same until she is completely off of her cyclosporine.  She should be completely off of all of her medications by the end of July.  Then Emerson will have a test that will measure a group of her T cells which need to be over 200 for her to return to some normal activities like eating fast food!!!  The good news is she continues to heal and she continues to be strong even though she longs for sleepovers, playing her beloved sports (softball and basketball), and just being able to do whatever she wants.  Patrick and I continue to be so proud of her during this challenging time.  Thank you all for all your continued support!  #fighter
