100 Days and Other Celebrations!

Last Thursday marked Jax’s 100 days post bone marrow transplant. As noted by Julie Penne on the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s website, “Day 100 is a milestone that many stem cell transplant recipients circle boldly on their calendars as the turning point in their recovery. That’s when the greatest risk for critical side effects is past and when the stem cells have engrafted and begun making new blood cells.”

Today, Jax had a biopsy to see that everything is going well. The biopsy is done in order to tell how many cells a person has in his/her bones. The normal rate is 100%. In September of last year, Jax had only 25-30%. His numbers are rising, and the doctors are happy to see the increase. It means that his body is producing all the cells that it needs!

Please continue to keep Jax and family in your prayers, but take a moment also to celebrate the good news!
