Recently, Jax and his family drove the short distance from their home in North Charleston to nearby Edisto Beach. As most parents can relate, being home for the holidays is a wonderful time for family, but it can get a little redundant (and let’s be honest-sometimes stressful) if you just sit around at home, ESPECIALLY when you have two very active boys. Day trips are a great way to get out of the house, and exploring a nearby beach gave the family something fun to do as they checked out all Edisto had to offer.
For those that don’t know, Edisto Beach is about an hour from Charleston. There are closer beaches, but Edisto is known for having a slower pace and is family oriented. Jax’s family intended on visiting Botany Bay, a nature preserve on Edisto Island, but it was closed the day they visited. Instead, they walked the sandy shore and made the most of their time together.
The family gets a great deal of time together, as Jax is still not able to attend school. His younger brother, Brixx, has not been able to go to school regularly either because of some of his own circumstances. Although they are together a lot, the day trip to Edisto was a really nice break from their normal routine. Remember, Jax is still going to the hospital several times a week for treatments. This is the Foxwell norm, but that doesn’t make it easy.
Challenges face the family often, and it’s our hope that we can continue to support by making donations to COTA for Fearless Jaxson’s Journey for a lifetime of transplant related expenses. In the New Year, let’s not forget this sweet family.
