What’s Happening in the World of Jax

Jaxson, our fearless little guy, recently turned 6 years old. It’s hard to believe what he’s gone through over the last year+. His mother was recently reflecting on how far he’s come. At one of Jax’s appointments last week, his mom videoed his port change and titled it “Can Anyone Beat This Time?” When Jax started out with his port, it took four nurses to hold him down, and it was traumatic. This past time, however, Jax let Nurse Dillion get access and do all the necessary steps quickly and much more easily. The video still shows that this is not Jax’s favorite thing, but Mom said “this is a huge accomplishment. It shows he’s willingly having Mr. Dillon access his port.” Check out the video here.

Jax still goes to the doctor every Monday. He has occupational therapy once a week. He’s not back in school yet, but he gets to join his class occasionally for special events. He also has homebound two times a week. He is supposed to be going back to school full time on March 13th! This is a HUGE step and the family welcomes prayers to help with the transition.

Since Jax has been home all this time, and his father has had some medical issues (recently he had surgery), there has been the continued stress of trying to pay bills, rent, etc. The family has a meal train set up for them and appreciate any support they can get. Every dollar donated to COTA for Fearless Jaxson’s Journey assists with a lifetime of transplant related expenses.
