Recovery – Highs and Lows

Yesterday felt like such a gift. 💜 Gillian was amazing — they finally found the right mix of pain meds, we were very optimistic for a great healing journey, she felt a little like herself again. She spent the day walking the halls, hanging out in the teen room and the Ronald McDonald room, visiting with her little bros, cousins, Gpa, and Meemaw. We were on cloud nine.

But today was hard. Really hard. They tried to transition her from IV meds to oral meds, and the pain hit her like a truck. It took her appetite, her energy, and a little piece of the joy we felt yesterday. She still pushed through to do her exercises — because that’s who she is — but the rest of the day seemed to take forever while she struggled in so much pain.💔

Her doctors here at Primary Children’s are incredible. They’re working so hard to find that delicate balance where her pain is controlled, and her healing can continue. Tonight things are looking a bit better, and we’re holding on to hope that tomorrow brings more comfort and strength.

Thank you for loving our girl, for praying, for thinking of her. Every message, every prayer, every bit of love — we feel it. 💜💜LOVE YOU ALL😘
