I don’t even know how to begin this post. Things have been really hard. Gillian was hospitalized again Wednesday evening for pain and relentless nausea and vomiting. She has probably slept a total of six hours since Tuesday night. Every other moment has been spent dry heaving or throwing up, and it has been absolutely heartbreaking to watch.

They discovered a bowel obstruction, and we were praying they could resolve it without surgery. Unfortunately, that didn’t work, and now we’re waiting for the surgical team to talk with us about the next step.

This is her third hospitalization in one month, and it will be her 3rd abdominal surgery in 8 months, and somehow she keeps pushing through—fighting, enduring, and showing us all what an extraordinary little human she is. She has hated every second of these past few days, yet she continues forward with a kind of grit, optimism, and grace that humbles me. She is, and always will be, my hero.

I am asking for prayers—prayers for rest, for relief, for comfort. Prayers that she will feel held, protected, watched over, and wrapped in peace. She deserves so much softness after so much suffering.

And to all of you… we feel your love. We feel your prayers. We feel every message, every meal, every card, every donation to COTA, every act of kindness. They are holding us up more than you know. In my moments of overwhelm, I tend to withdraw, not because I don’t care, but because sometimes I can barely breathe through all of it. Please don’t mistake my silence for anything other than exhaustion and trying to survive the moment we’re in.

We have a thousand thank-yous to give, and I hope someday we can deliver each one. But until then, please know this: we are overflowing with gratitude. Your kindness has been a lifeline. Your love has been a comfort. Your prayers have been a blessing.
