Update on Gray
In the summer of 2019 our 4th grandchild, Gray was born. He has always held a special place in everyone’s heart from his grandparents to his aunts, uncle and cousins. We have now been blessed with 6, one of which is Gray’s new baby sister Skarlett.Gray is a very happy child who is always wanting you to do something with him. Whether it’s playing with all of his toys, reading books, drawing ghosties with chalk in the driveway or just wanting you to snuggle with him, it really doesn’t take much to make him happy. He also enjoys making and eating his own pizza with his peepaw as well as videocalls to see everyone. Unfortunately, we do not get the opportunity to spend nearly enough time with our grandchildren due to our location, but the time that we do get is very precious to us. This past spring I had the opportunity to stay with Gray and his family for a few weeks. During this time, I was able to pick him up from his daycare after I finished with my work. As we were driving home one day, he showed me just how smart he is when he informed me that I was going the wrong way, mind you we lived in Daphne for almost 10 years so I was very familiar with my location. I explained to him that I was going the way that I know and he said that it was wrong and not how we get to his house!! One of my fondest memories is when Gray and his parents came to visit us in Iowa last Thanksgiving. Gray was able to go ice skating with his mommy and sledding with both his mommy and daddy. We also went driving around to see all the holiday lights. The best part of all was taking a walk through a long tunnel while Gray was being pushed in his stroller. His peepaw was pushing him and chased us around in all different directions. Gray found that to be very fun and amusing.
Gray’s personality lights up every room he is in and he makes friends wherever he goes. He’s just a very charismatic and loving little boy whether that’s with family, friends at daycare or all of the staff at Children’s of Alabama. As this Thanksgiving comes to an end and the holidays are in full swing, our family can’t express how thankful we are for the doctors and nurses at Children’s of Alabama, the financial donations that have been received by all of you, and most of all, Gray’s donor family. We deeply feel for their loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with them daily, especially now as they face their first season without their loved one.
