Our Story
Isabel is the bounce and the fun of the Rammell family. From a very young age, she began exhibiting her adventurous spirit. Whether swinging from the dining room chandelier or creatively face painting her younger brother and herself with diaper cream, Isabel quickly earned the nickname of “Busy Izzy.”
At six months old, Isabel was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. One of her kidneys was nonfunctional and the other working at just 50 percent. Fast forward 12 years where her one kidney function is now in rapid decline which necessitates her need for a life-saving kidney transplant, hopefully before turning to dialysis. While this fun loving preteen is slowing down because of decreasing energy she continues to be full of optimism and love for life.
Izzy loves neighborhood friends, swinging in her backyard, helping her mom and dad, and rolling around her doctor’s office on his stool. Hearing Izzy’s rhyming introduction of herself in French with “Je m’appelle Mademoiselle Isabel Rammell” is sure to bring a smile!
Because of her love for ALL things pineapple, at the top of Izzy’s bucket list is to hopefully visit a working pineapple farm in Hawaii after her transplant and recovery.
Like each of us, Izzy’s story is her family’s story, beginning before her birth. She is the beautiful daughter of Brad and Lara Rammell, who after having two biological children, greatly desired to add to their family. After eight prayerful, yearning years, a trying miscarriage, an adoption financial-fraud loss, they received ‘their phone call.’ Sixteen months after adopting sweet baby Isabel, their family also welcomed another beloved baby by adoption. The Rammell’s have provided teen foster care through the years, inviting many into their loving hearts and home. Together, they are a family that is often concerned more with the needs of others than their own.
Because of social restrictions from the current COVID-19 virus, it has become necessary to postpone our plans for a fundraising community event that was to be held in April.
May we as an online community, follow the Rammells’ selfless example. Please join us in raising funds in the amount of $50,000 for COTA in honor of Isabel. 100% of funds raised assist with transplant-related expenses. Donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Thank you! #letsgiveforiz
