On Wednesday, April 17th, we were awoken by a phone call at 7am and learned that our prayers had been answered. Doctors had found a match for Sheila – it was time for transplant!

The day was not the rush to the hospital we expected. Sheila was able to go to school that day and we had a few hours to pack up. In the afternoon, we headed to the big city for Sheila’s surgery which would take place the next day. On Wednesday night, we had a family sleepover in Sheila’s hospital room. Her surgery took 10 hours and she did great!

As we lost our brother/Sheila’s uncle on April 17th, 2023, we were anxious about the sad day it would be, but it turned out to be a miracle. We’re so thankful for our angel donor and donor family that chose organ donation and saved our baby’s life.
