Progress is Minecraft

it’s been a solid 24 hours of healing over here! Jack is now getting out of bed 3-4 times a day. He hates every second of it and I’ve door dashed many sugar free prizes (thanks Surprenant family!!) but he’s consistently walking about 20 feet a day. And on his own! He can go from sit to stand with minimal assistance and can go from stand to sit without aid. He’s also walking without any help and able move around his bed, all things he couldn’t do on Friday. He even felt good enough to play Minecraft for a half hour or so! Huge progress. I can’t believe how quickly he’s improving. It feels faster than a normal recovery from pancreatitis. I’m sure proper pain medication is a huge factor, but that’s a rant for another day.

The lines to his back and the ports are now gone! His pole is slowly emptying out. His tube feeding is going to be moved to the max flow this afternoon, and so far his adjustment to insulin has been pretty smooth. Did I mention he slept 12 hours last night!? He only woke for an ultrasound, bathroom, and briefly for me to read a little bit to him. He’s doing so awesome they’re talking about moving him out of ICU tomorrow. They’re also going to take down more lines today, mainly the majority running through his neck. He is thrilled about that.

We also got into the Ronald McDonald House yesterday! I was able to get laundry done, move our clothes and crafts from the van, we have an actual shower to use and we have access to the McCafe machine (priorities). It also means the siblings can visit now! John is heading home to surprise them and he will bring them back once Jack is settled into his room. I can’t wait to see them!!

Now that we are at the Ronald Mcdonald House, that also means we have an address and can receive mail! If you’d like to send Jack a physical card, you can send to:

Ronald McDonald House Charities
C/o Jack Wilkinson
341 Erkenbrecher Ave.
room 3403
Cincinnati, OH 45229

This also means I can Amazon things as we need them, which without Target drive up, will be very helpful! Hopefully Jack will continue to crush it and we can be home sooner than the 8 weeks we were quoted!
