Some days are good for the soul

Today was just good for the soul. We attended the Peoria Wish Walk in Donovan Park and celebrated the 40th anniversary of Make-A-Wish Illinois. Make-A-Wish events always bring a light to Jacob and today was another example of that. He was so happy to be there, especially since we got to spend some time with his former physical therapist, who he absolutely adores, and her wonderful family!Watching him brought so much joy to all of us. We enjoyed fun activities, walked in the walk and got to visit with some real-life heroes: the Star Wars characters from the Rebel Legion and Midwest Garrison. For those who have been with us since the beginning, you’ll understand why this was such a powerful moment for Jake. This is the very same group of incredible volunteers who brought the Force to Jake’s bedside in the ICU right after his cardiac arrest. To see him standing tall today, smiling and interacting with them on his own two feet, free from monitors and tubes, was healing in a way I did not expect.Days like today are what this journey is all about. They remind us of the incredible things Jake has done and how far he has come.
