Moving mountains

We are so blessed we cannot even put it into words. That is the sentence that keeps repeating in our hearts today. Over the past few days, we have watched God move mountains in Jake’s recovery. He has had two of his five chest tubes removed and his liver drain is gone. Because he is doing so well, the doctors have been able to wean him down on many of his post-surgery medications, including much of the sedation and pain meds. Because the sedation is lower, his personality is shining through more and more. His lungs continue to make progress allowing his ventilator settings to be lowered as well. His labs are trending in the right direction, and our specific prayer now is for everything to continue to improve and the ventilator to come out soon. We are hopeful that once that tube is gone, he can be completely off sedation and start moving around more freely.

But the biggest victory came last night. Jake was able to get out of bed and sit in a chair! Seeing him upright, fighting for his recovery, brought tears to our eyes.

He has been loving the connection and encouragement from all of you. He has really enjoyed watching the video messages and listening to us read him your amazing comments. It puts a fight in his spirit to know so many people are cheering him on.
