Jaime had a liver appointment yesterday, and overall it was a pretty uneventful visit…which we’ll take!
His labs were drawn to check his electrolytes, and everything looked good. They were also really happy with how much better he looks now that so much of the extra fluid is off. And our little tough guy didn’t even cry for his lab draw. It was quick, easy, and he handled it like a champ. 🥹
They also confirmed that right now Jaime is doing well enough that he isn’t considered a high priority for transplant. His liver issues are being managed, his labs are looking good, and one of the biggest things he needs right now is simply time to grow and get bigger.
That part feels a little bittersweet. We’re so incredibly thankful that he’s stable and doing well enough to not be at the top of the transplant list, but at the same time, we know he still needs a new liver. It’s a strange place to be. We are grateful for every bit of good news while still knowing there’s a much bigger road ahead.
For now, the focus is on growth. His feeding volume will be increased this week, and next week they’ll increase the calories in his formula to help pack on those much-needed ounces. 💪💙
